Our Purpose Statement

Preparing God’s People to Share Christ’s Love
 
“To prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.” ~ Ephesians 4:12
 
Our Core Values
  1. It is our desire that Flat Creek Baptist Church is becoming more like Jesus Christ each and every day
    • Jesus was totally committed to obeying God’s will and was, at the same time, the most caring, loving, and forgiving person who ever walked on earth. Wherever he went, people were drawn to Him. From our Senior Staff to the newest member of our fellowship, we strive for maturity in the fullness of Christ; that all who encounter the ministry of Flat Creek Baptist Church be drawn to Him.
    • John 12:32 -“But I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to myself.”

  2. At Flat Creek Baptist Church, our first ministry priority is worship
    • We desire worship to be Spirit-led and Christ-centered.
    • We desire Sunday morning worship to be the highlight of each person’s week… the most inspiring and exciting time of the week.
    • We believe personal worship through daily quiet time is the key preparation activity for corporate worship.
    • Revelation 4:11 -“You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for your created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being.”

  3. As Great Commission Christians, we desire to reach the world for Jesus Christ
    • Our Jerusalem is Fayette and Coweta Counties.
    • Our Judea is the State of Georgia.
    • Our Samaria is the United States and North America.
    • The ends of the earth are the four corners of the planet: north, south, east and west.
    • We see prayer, giving, going and partnerships as the four major keys for reaching our world for Christ.
    • Acts 1:8 -“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

  4. We believe preaching and teaching the Word of God to be central to discipling believers
    • We believe God’s Word is perfect truth in its entirety.
    • We believe in teaching God’s Word in every ministry to every age.
    • We are dependant upon the Holy Spirit to reveal the relevance of God’s Word to us in everyday life.
    • II Timothy 3:16 -“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.”

  5. We believe in an unchanging message while being committed to ever-changing methodologies
    • We believe that the message and doctrines of the church never change but methodologies of ministry may change continually under the leadership of the Holy Spirit.
    • I Thessalonians 5:19 -“Do not put out the Spirit’s fire.”

  6. We strive for a “Kingdom Vision” for ministry
    • Under God’s leadership we will work to build up and cooperate with other Christ-centered, Bible-believing evangelical ministries.
    • Philippians 1:27 -“Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. Then, whether I come and see you or only hear about you in my absence, I will know that you stand firm in one spirit, contending as one man for the faith of the gospel…”

  7. We desire to be faithful stewards of God’s gifts to us
    • We believe that it is the responsibility of the church and its members to be faithful stewards of all the resources God has entrusted to them.
    • Malachi 3:10 -“Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this, says the Lord Almighty, and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour our so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it.”

  8. We recognize prayer as our power source
    • Every effort we put forth must be under-girded with prayer.
    • John 15:5 -“I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.”

  9. We want to do ministry with excellence
    • We must put forth our best effort in every endeavor.
    • Philippians 4:8 -“Finally brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable – if anything is excellent or praiseworthy – think about such things.”

  10. We practice “Second Mile” servant ministry
    • We believe in servant ministry to our members that always seeks to go the “second mile.” Our members will be treated better than the best business would treat their regular customers.
    • We believe in servant ministry to our prospects that always seeks to go the “second mile”. Our guests will be treated better than the best business would treat their potential customers.
    • We believe in servant ministry with, and to, all ages. Our Ministerial Staff and Program Leaders are called to lead, recruit, teach and train people to do ministry, but every Christian is called to be a minister.
    • Matthew 5:41 -“If someone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles.”
